Last summer, I went to Gold Coast in Australia. I stayed in Surfer’s Paradise. Normally, you would stay there for a bit of nightlife and some surfing. The place is so multicultural; it was hard to tell that it was a part of Australia. It was a nice place to relax with tons of beaches to hang out at. When you got hungry, the mall was just a 5-minute drive away. Everything was so close, so it gave me really warm feeling. To make things even better, I was going with my friends from school. The journey to Gold Coast itself already made our whole trip worth it. We had so much fun on the plane singing karaoke and playing games. The planes in Australia always held games to help the passengers relax and feel at home. When we arrived, the first thing we did was eat at Hungry Jacks, a popular fast food restaurant in Australia.
The drive to Gold Coast didn’t go as well as we had hoped. We had a friend drive because he was 17. In Australia standards, you can receive your P license. We got lost so we spent over 4 hours just to get to the hotel we decided to stay in. The unpacking didn’t take too long, so we went out to the beach for some surfing. The waves were awesome that day. The weather in Gold Coast always seemed hot during the day and cold during the night. It hardly changes. Even if it were winter, it would just get cold at night but still between 20 degrees during the day.
There were all kinds of food there. We stayed for a week so we got to try all the different kinds of food they had. The food was outstanding. We couldn’t ask for more. We tried Chinese, Mexican, American, Australian, Japanese food, etc. The variety there made us not ever want to leave. The restaurant that stood out the most was the Japanese restaurant because their setting and food was phenomenal. The price wasn’t very expensive so we could try a lot of things. My mother said their sushi and sashimi was well known in Gold Coast So I didn’t regret going there.
After dinner, we went for some bowling. The bowling alley was laid out like a disco cause after 10pm; they would have a night bowl. They made everything glow, even the ball and pins. It wasn’t expensive or anything so we decided to go every night. The bowling alley didn’t close until 2:30 in the morning. Although that was the case, Australians don’t really go out after 10pm. Since a lot of tourists were there, we didn’t feel too awkward. After several games, we decided to just go back to the rooms and just hang for a while before sleeping.
My trip was awesome and I’m sure I would go next time if I had the chance. The journey back wasn’t too bad as well because we didn’t get lost. When I got home I was so tired I had to sleep for a whole day just to gain my energy back, although it was well worth it.
